Swedish 'sniper' self-propelled howitzer destroys Russian Msta-S: rare video

Sweden's Archer systems, combining the best of the world's artillery, are in service with the 45th Detached Artillery Brigade

The Ukrainian military destroyed another Russian Msta-S self-propelled artillery system - the press service of the 45th Detached Artillery Brigade released footage of the hunt for the Russian howitzer. A reconnaissance drone spotted the camouflaged vehicle and adjusted artillery fire on it, as a result of which the Msta-S was effectively destroyed.

"The enemy now has less self-propelled guns. An archer hits the target! 45th Detached Artillery Brigade. Eastern direction," the brigade commented on the video, hinting that the enemy vehicle was destroyed by a Swedish 155 mm Archer self-propelled artillery system.

The handover of Swedish 155 mm Archer self-propelled artillery systems to Ukraine was officially approved in March 2023, and negotiations on the transfer of these vehicles at the official public level have been ongoing since August last year.

At the same time, in the autumn of 2023, the Ground Forces Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine publicly demonstrated this system for the first time in a video on the occasion of the Day of Missile Forces and Artillery of Ukraine.

The Archer is actually a kind of "sniper rifle" with automated processes, a range of 50-60 km and high speed.
