Russia threatens escalation over supply of aircraft, long-range missiles to Ukraine
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov says that supplying Ukraine with long-range missiles and aircraft will lead to an escalation in the war
Lavrov said this in an interview with a Russian propaganda TV channel.
According to him, the West is constantly raising the stakes by supplying Ukraine with new types of weapons and allegedly seeking to prolong the war.
“They want this conflict to continue. They want to keep raising the stakes. To achieve escalation with the long-range weapons that the British have now provided and the aircraft that some former Soviet countries are already providing,” Lavrov said.
He warned that such steps would be met with a response.
“They are probably not naive people. At the very least, their military should have explained to politicians that at some point, action meets opposition. If you raise the bar and increase the level of confrontation, then you should probably expect a response - at least according to the laws of physics, according to the laws of wartime,” Lavrov said.
