23 people killed, 46 wounded in Russian attacks on Kherson

On the afternoon of May 3, invading Russian forces attacked Kherson for the third time, striking a railway station. Earlier, Russia shelled the only hypermarket in the city, killing employees and customers and hit a house. By the morning of May 4, the death toll had risen to 23

The head of the Kherson regional state administration, Oleksandr Prokudin, informed that yesterday, on May 3, the Russian army carried out 98 attacks, firing 539 shells from heavy artillery, Grad rockets launchers, tanks, UAVs and aircraft. The city of Kherson was shelled 16 times.

"The city of Kherson was shelled with particular cruelty. 82 shells hit Pryvokzalna Square (Railway station square), the territory and buildings of the railway station, a gas station, two retail establishments, a factory and a car repair shop; the territory of the railway crossing," Prokudin wrote on his Telegram channel.

He also said that on May 3, 23 people were killed and 46 others (including two children) were injured as a result of Russian aggression.

The Kherson Regional Military Administration declared May 4, 5, and 6 as days of mourning.

On the evening of May 3, the number of people killed in the shelling reached 21, and 48 more were wounded. 

Earlier it was reported that was reported by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskiy. 

“A railway station and a crossing, a house, a hardware store, a grocery supermarket, a gas station - do you know what unites these places? The bloody trail that Russia leaves with its shells, killing civilians in Kherson and Kherson region.

As of now, 21 people have been killed! 48 wounded! All civilians! In one incomplete day! In one region! My condolences to the families and friends of the victims.  We will never forgive the culprits. We will defeat evil state and hold all the perpetrators to account!”- he wrote

According to updated information, 19 people were killed and 47 others were wounded in the Kherson region as a result of Russian shelling. This was reported by the head of the regional military administration, Oleksandr Prokudin, on the air of the United News telethon.

As the head of the Kherson Regional Military Administration's press office, Oleksandr Tolokonnikov, told Espresso TV, 18 people were killed in Kherson, and another person was killed in Beryslav district.

According to him, 26 people were injured and 4 people were killed in the shelling of the ATB supermarket. Among the injured is a 6-year-old child, who has severe injuries: a fractured hip and a contusion. Doctors are fighting for the child's life.

One person was killed and 4 were wounded during the shelling of the Kherson railway station. The morning shelling of the Epicenter hypermarket killed three people – a woman and two men, and wounded four others.

"The shelling has been going on almost all day. The local military administration head appealed to people not to leave their homes, stay in shelters, or go to basements. It is dangerous to be on the street now. The number of victims is constantly being updated. There is a person in serious condition who was injured at ATB," Tolokonnikov added.

The Prosecutor General's Office has launched an investigation into the violation of the laws and customs of war, combined with premeditated murder.

"As of 4:30 p.m., 12 people were killed in the regional center due to indiscriminate shelling of civilian infrastructure. About 22 people sustained injuries of varying severity," the press service wrote. 

Also in the afternoon, a team of energy workers who were repairing power grids after Russian attacks came under fire between the villages of Stepanivka and Muzykivka. Three employees of the energy company were killed as a result of the Russian shelling.

In the morning, a man was killed in the shelling of the Dariivka community in the Kherson region.

Earlier, Oleksandr Prokudin, reported on the shelling of the regional center.

“The enemy attacked the Kherson railway station. Preliminary, one person was killed and three more civilians were wounded. An ambulance was also damaged - the medics were not injured. Rescue services are working at the scene,” he said. 

Earlier in the day, the Russian Federation attacked the only working hypermarket in the city.

“Three killed, five wounded as of now. These are employees and visitors of the institution. All operational services are at the scene. They are helping people. We can't negotiate with the Russian murderers. They must be brought to justice. Or destroyed,” the message says. 

In the morning, Russia also fired on a village in the Kherson region.

“The Russian army attacked Tokarivka in the Dariivka community. In the morning, the Russians fired at residential buildings,” the statement said.

According to preliminary information, one person was killed. A 47-year-old man received non-life-threatening injuries in his own yard.

Emergency services are currently working at the scene of the shelling.
