Russia steps up attacks on Ukraine's border areas to distract Ukrainian army from other sectors
Over the past month, Russia has increased shelling of the border regions of Kharkiv, Chernihiv and Sumy. The enemy is trying to keep the Defense Forces in suspense

This was reported by Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine Hanna Maliar.
Over the past week, from May 8 to 16, 2023, Russian forces fired 162 times in these regions. The Sumy region suffered the most shelling – 110 attacks. Chernihiv region - 29, Kharkiv region - 23.
"The enemy army is shelling civilians every day with various types of weapons and destroying civilian objects - kindergartens, hospitals, schools. There are dead and wounded, including children," Maliar wrote.
She noted that the enemy is trying to keep the Ukrainian Armed Forces on edge with artillery and air strikes in the border areas and prevent them from being deployed in other areas.
