Russia seeks to ruin Ukraine–Poland friendship — Ukrainian MP Kniazhytskyi

Ukrainian MP Mykola Kniazhytskyi shared his opinions with Espreso TV.

“Russians are very concerned that even before the full-scale invasion, surveys consistently showed Ukrainians considered Poles their closest friends and held the most positive attitude toward Poles among all foreigners. Everything has been done — and continues to be done — to try to destroy this trust. And trust, in fact, is built on very simple things. In our history, there were tragic moments when we, unfortunately, lost to the Russians together, but there were also victories. We have the Battle of Warsaw, where General Bezruchko’s army, alongside Piłsudski’s forces, defended the city. There are many other examples of cooperation between Ukrainian military formations. As soon as a Ukrainian state appeared, the Ukrainian army was always an ally of the Polish army. Even when Ukraine was not fully independent, or existed only briefly as an independent state and was at war, its state institutions still cooperated with Poland,” he said.

Mykola Kniazhytskyi noted that Russia is doing everything to destroy the friendship between Ukraine and Poland.

“As soon as the Ukrainian state was destroyed or the Polish state was destroyed, third parties did everything possible to create confrontation between our peoples. Even the confrontation of the 1940s actually took place between citizens of Poland of Ukrainian and Polish origin in territory occupied by Germany, and later in territory occupied by the Soviet Union. The occupiers did everything to make our peoples quarrel. When we have statehood, we have no right to allow this, and we have every reason — because it is our common interest — to cooperate and be the best of friends. That is why Russia is now doing everything to destroy this friendship, including using domestic political forces in each of our countries,” the Ukrainian MP emphasized.
