Russia seeks to continue Ukraine occupation via nuclear blackmail - diplomat Chaly

Ukrainian Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the US 2015-2019 Valery Chaly is convinced that Russia, the aggressor country, seeks to continue occupying Ukrainian territory by nuclear blackmail.

The diplomat shared the details on the air of the Espreso TV channel.

"The biggest threat is that Russia wants to fix its occupation with nuclear blackmail. Therefore, it is necessary to oppose this and not give them the opportunity to blur this issue - to talk about two sides, they say, we also threaten nuclear security," Chaly noted.

The expert added that clear coordination of the actions of Ukraine and international partners regarding the demilitarization of the Zaporizhia NPP is necessary.

"The statements of UN Secretary General Guterres are correct, that it is necessary to de-occupy the ZNPP, remove all military personnel and Russian equipment. But the parameters of demilitarization are unclear from the point of view of the Secretary General. Russia should be excluded from all IAEA inspections. We need to coordinate our positions with our partners on this matter at the expert level, no less important issue than the grain agreement," Valery Chaly noted.
