‘Russia seeks escalation’: Ukrainian official analyzes statements on Crimean bridge attacks
On the night of Saturday, September 2, Russia reported another "attack by unknown drones" on the Crimean bridge. It is attempting to escalate the situation with this way
The head of the Joint Coordination Press Center of the Southern Defense Forces of Ukraine, Captain 1st Rank Natalia Humeniuk, shared the information on the United News national telethon.
"It is clear that they are constantly reporting imaginary attacks on the Crimean bridge. The diagnosis is accurate: the structure is redundant," she said.
Humeniuk explained that currently, Russia is attempting to predict the moment "when it will become apparent to everyone."
"The fact that they are trying to stir up the situation around this structure every time is just their tactic. They need to somehow justify why it is impossible to use this transport infrastructure facility," explained the head of the Joint Coordination Press Center.
She added that the pulling up of reserves and replenishment of supplies, which was supposed to take place through this bridge, is not working to the extent that the Russian military expected. Therefore, they need to somehow justify the structure with flooded ferries around it, the constant blocking of this bridge and the exercises that Russia conducts there.
"Every time they have a certain legend to explain their behavior that is incomprehensible to others," emphasized Humeniuk.
According to the head of the Joint Press Center, Russian forces are attempting to construct a barrier by submerging boats, sinking several interconnected ferries interwoven with nets. However, during the night, something managed to break through.
