Russia reports attacks on two refineries in Samara region, casualties in Belgorod region

The Russian Defense Ministry accused Ukraine of using different types of weapons against two regions of the Russian Federation. Later, the Samara region reported that drones hit two oil refineries

RIA Novosti, citing Samara Region Governor Dmitry Azarov, reports that drones attacked the Syzran and Novokuibyshevsky refineries. This caused a fire at the refinery.

The drones attacked the refineries around six in the morning. 

The Russian Ministry of Defense, the governor of the Belgorod region, Vyacheslav Gladkov, and the governor of the Kursk region, Roman Starovoit, reported attacks on other regions. 

On the night of March 16, the governor of Kursk reported on the work of air defense in the region. According to him, the Russian military destroyed "another drone".

Later, the governor of the Belgorod region said that 5 people moving in a car were allegedly injured in the drone attack. According to him, it happened in the village of Glotovo, Graivoronsky urban district.

"As a result of the explosion, the car caught fire, and 5 people in it were injured. A minor boy has a brain contusion, a man has a penetrating wound of the abdominal cavity and shrapnel wounds of the upper and lower extremities. A woman sustained shrapnel wounds to the face and scapular area, as well as contusion. Two more men have moderate contusions," Gladkov wrote.

In the morning, the Russian Defense Ministry said that two regions were allegedly attacked by drones, the Tochka-U missile system, and the RM-70 Vampire multiple launch rocket system.

According to them, Russian air defense allegedly intercepted and destroyed five drones over the territory of Kursk region and three UAVs, a Tochka-U missile over the territory of Belgorod region.

Later, the Russian Defense Ministry reported the destruction of another 8 Vampire missiles in the Belgorod region. Also, in half an hour, the ministry announced the downing of two drones.

Later, Governor Gladkov said that two people, a man and a woman, were allegedly killed in the attack. Three people were also injured and are in hospitals.

According to Gladkov, the alleged attacks damaged multi-storey and private buildings, a shopping center and cars.

  • Yesterday, the Russian Defense Ministry accused Ukraine of attacking Belgorod and Kaluga regions with Grads and Vampire MLRSs. The drones hit an oil refinery there.
