Russia's State Duma head Vyacheslav Volodin said this, Duma TV reports.
According to him, the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly is "a completely non-independent politicized organization that dances to Washington's tune.”
"The worst thing about this situation is that we are still paying money, and we are one of the biggest payers, so we need to get out and stop transferring funds," Volodin added.
He also noted that by February 21, the State Duma, together with the Federation Council, will decide to "suspend the participation of the permanent delegation of the Russian parliament in the OSCE PA.”
- On March 16, 2022, the Council of Europe expelled Russia from its membership.
- On April 7 of the same year, the UN General Assembly suspended Russia's membership in the UN Human Rights Council.
- On November 15, 2023, Russia was expelled from the UNESCO Executive Board for the first time in history.
