Ukraine Intelligence's drones attack Container radar in Mordovia - media
On the morning of April 17, the Russian Ministry of Defense reported that a UAV had been shot down over the territories of the Republic of Mordovia and Tatarstan. Later it was reported that the HUR drones attacked a Russian military unit in the town of Kovylkino
Sources in the Ukrainian Intelligence Service of Ukrainska Pravda and Hromadske reported this.
It is noted that Ukrainian drones struck the 590th separate radio technical unit of the 84680 military unit, located in the Russian city of Kovylkino in Mordovia.
According to sources, it was a special operation of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ukrainian Defense Ministry.
The target of the UAV strike was the 29B6 Container over-the-horizon radar with a target detection range of about 3,000 km and a detection height of more than 100 km. The distance from the Ukrainian border to the target is about 680 km.
The publication adds that the two-coordinate over-the-horizon radar 29B6 Container is part of the air and space attack reconnaissance and warning system. The first sample of the Container radar was built by the Russians in the city of Kovylkino in Mordovia in 2000-2002.
This was the second attack on this radar: Ukrainian drones had already attacked it on April 11. The building where the command post used to be was damaged.
Before that, the Russian Defense Ministry traditionally stated that at about 8:00 a.m. Moscow time, the Russians "stopped the Kyiv regime's attempt to carry out a terrorist attack using aircraft-type UAVs against targets in the Russian Federation."
"Air defense systems destroyed a Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicle over the territory of the Republic of Mordovia," the Russian ministry said.
Later, the Russian Defense Ministry announced the alleged downing of a drone over Tatarstan. Russia claims that the UAV tried to attack the region at around 11:20 a.m.
