Russia runs out of critical microelectronics for military industry - US Treasury Department
International sanctions have rendered the Russian military-industrial complex unable to produce and maintain critical equipment for the war in Ukraine
This is stated on the portal of the US Treasury Ministry with reference to US Deputy Treasury Secretary Wally Adeyemo at a meeting of countries that impose economic restrictions on Russia.
"Not only have we been able to impose costs on the Kremlin for its actions, but our economic restrictions placed on the Russian military-industrial complex have had a direct effect on the battlefield," he emphasized.
According to Adeyemo, currently the Russian military-industrial complex is unable to produce and maintain important equipment for the war in Ukraine. In particular, Russia is running out of microelectronics that are critical to its military-industrial complex, and Russian officials are concerned that they are running out of foreign components.
Russia is also unable to access advanced technology and financial systems, which inhibits the ability of the Russian defense industry to produce weapons and replace those destroyed during the war.
"In Russia, the two largest domestic manufacturers of microelectronics had to temporarily stop production due to the lack of critical foreign technologies," the US Deputy Treasury Secretary emphasized.
