Russia reinforces its group near Bakhmut, moves from defense to active actions
In the Bakhmut area, Donetsk region, the Russian troops significantly reinforced their group and switched from defense to active operations, trying to stop the Defense Forces' advance
Colonel-General Oleksandr Syrskyi, Commander of the Ukrainian Land Forces, said this in an interview with Interfax-Ukraine.
"The situation in the east remains difficult. The enemy keeps trying to achieve success and attacks our positions every day. The invading forces are particularly active in the vicinity of Kupyansk, where they are trying to advance in several directions at once. In the area of Bakhmut, they have significantly reinforced their grouping and moved from defense to active operations," he said.
The general noted that the Russians are trying to stop the advance of Ukrainian troops and restore the lost position. For this purpose they have deployed airborne units and assault groups from the Storm Z units.
"The Russian troops' actions are supported by dense artillery and mortar fire. The use of 'kamikaze' drones is constantly increasing. At the same time, thanks to the professional and coordinated actions of our soldiers, the Russian enemy suffers heavy losses and cannot achieve its goals," emphasized Syryskyi.
