Russia reduces intensity of convict recruitment to Wagner PMC
According to British intelligence analysts, the Russian Federation has reduced the mobilization scale of inmates, in particular to the Wagner PMC
This is stated in the British Ministry of Defense military intelligence report.
Referring to the Russian Federal Penal Service data, experts report a decrease in the convict recruitment intensity to the Wagner PMC: the number of inmates in the Russian Federation has decreased by 6 000 people between November 2022 and February 2023. In September-November 2022 this figure reached 23 000.
Taking into account the AFU message, analysts note that Russians seem to no longer be using ‘human wave’ tactics that much.
"Significant tension between Wagner and the Russian Ministry of Defense is becoming visible in public, and this competition between factions of the Russian elite may have partially influenced the decrease in the number of convicts [mobilized to Wagner's PMC - ed.]," the report said.
