Russia ramps up propaganda and disinformation campaigns targeting Ukraine’s leadership
The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) has reported a rise in the activity of Russian intelligence services in the media space, with Russians actively spreading Kremlin narratives and running informational campaigns
The SBU notes that Russia is using "pocket" propagandists, bloggers, and so-called experts to carry out these operations. They create and distribute anti-Ukrainian content, which is then spread via bot farms and controlled media outlets on social networks.
The key narratives being pushed include: the dissemination of Kremlin’s messages about the war in Ukraine, efforts to undermine Ukraine’s territorial integrity and sovereignty, information campaigns against Ukraine's military and political leadership, claims about the "loss of agency" during international negotiations, and spreading pessimistic attitudes disguised as supposedly neutral expert assessments that ultimately serve Moscow's interests.
These narratives are aimed at destabilizing the socio-political situation in Ukraine, reducing international support, creating an illusion of protest sentiments, and distorting information about the situation at the front.
