Russia plans to bring prisoners from Belarus to temporarily occupied Mariupol for construction

According to the mayor's advisor, Andryushchenko, they received new information yesterday that people from Belarus, who have been convicted of minor crimes, will be brought to Mariupol to work alongside the Russians in the construction industry. However, he did not provide any details about the terms and conditions under which the Belarusian prisoners would work in Mariupol. 

The mayor's adviser stated that Russian builders, who are arriving in large numbers in the city, intend to stay in Mariupol. 

“They plan to construct residential buildings and neighborhoods for themselves under the mortgage program launched in Russia in February of this year, with a low interest rate of two percent,” he said.

Andryushchenko mentioned that 40 tenders have been awarded in Moscow to construct these buildings, and they have been given to companies whose owners are closely affiliated with the Kremlin. The entire construction project will be financed through the federal budget of the Russian Federation.
