Navalny's mother cannot find her son's body

"Alexei Navalny has been killed. His death occurred on February 16 at 14:17 local time, according to the official notification issued to Alexei's mother. An employee of the colony said that Navalny's body was in Salekhard. He was taken away by the Investigative Committee investigators. Now they are conducting "medical examinations" with him," Yarmysh wrote on the X platform (formerly Twitter).

"We demand that the body of Alexei Navalny be handed over to his family immediately," Kira Yarmysh emphasized.

Lyudmila Navalnaya is in Salekhard

On February 17, Reuters published photos of a woman who looks like Lyudmila Navalnaya. Her face is hidden by dark glasses and a mask.

The photos were allegedly taken in the city of Salekhard.

The late politician's mother is accompanied by two people — a man and a woman.

No one knows where Navalny's body is

At the same time, the morgue in Salekhard told Lyudmila Navalnaya that Alexei's body was not there.

"The colony lied. They said that the body was in the morgue in Salekhard. The morgue says there is no body," said Ivan Zhdanov, a lawyer from Navalny's team.

"The lawyer and Alexei's mother came to the Salekhard morgue. It was closed, despite the colony's assurances that it was working and Navalny's body was there. The lawyer called the phone number on the door. He was told that he was the seventh person to call today. They don't have Alexei's body in the morgue," Kira Yarmysh provided details.

Journalists from the independent media outlet Astra contacted the forensic medical bureau in Salekhard. They replied that "they did not accept any bodies from the colonies".

"This is the responsibility of the Investigative Committee, call them," said an employee of the bureau.

New information about the cause of death

Meanwhile, details are emerging about the cause of death of the politician. More precisely, how they are trying to present it to Alexei Navalny's family.

"When Alexei's lawyer and mother arrived at the colony this morning, they were told that the cause of Navalny's death was sudden death syndrome," Zhdanov wrote on the X network.

"Another Navalny's lawyer, who came to the Salekhard Investigative Committee, was told that 'the cause of Alexei's death has not been established, a second histological examination has been taken. Its results will allegedly be available next week. Obviously, they are lying and doing everything not to give the body away," Yarmysh added in this regard.

Initially, representatives of the Russian Federal Penitentiary Service said that Alexei Navalny had allegedly "a blood clot".
