Russia may reduce shelling of Ukraine’s energy infrastructure in spring - Ukraine’s former energy minister
Former Minister of Energy and Environmental Protection Oleksii Orzhel is convinced that the number of Russian missile attacks on energy infrastructure facilities may decrease in the spring
He shared his opinion with Espreso TV.
"Everyone has noticed that when the weather outside is relatively warm, the schedules of power outages become more adequate and consumers spend less time without power supply. These are the limits that apply to all regions. That is why the situation with power supply for consumers is improving," explained Orzhel.
The former Energy Minister believes that in the spring, Russia may reduce the number of attacks on Ukrainian energy infrastructure facilities.
"We understand that with the onset of warmth and spring, the situation with outages will improve. And the main thing is that Russians will no longer have an argument to attack energy infrastructure. Because the result of such strikes will be much reduced. However, February and March still remain the period of the highest load on the energy grid," he added.

Ukrenergo, Ukraine’s state energy company, reminded that due to the Russian attack on the Ukrainian power system on January 14, thermal power plants were damaged, and the power deficit in the grid is still significant.

As of January 22, more than 150 towns and villages in the Kherson region are still without power supply as a result of daily Russian shelling.
