Russia may launch more attacks on Bakhmut on New Year's Day
Yaroslav Lysenko, a soldier with the Svoboda battalion of the National Guard of Ukraine, says that Ukrainian troops are expecting new attacks by the Russian army on Bakhmut and the city's outskirts.
He shared the information with Espreso TV.
"The situation near Bakhmut is really tense, but without any change on either side. Because we are really exhausted from fighting for the city. Especially from Russian attacks and their infantry. So we are rotating, sending the injured away and replacing them with new guys. We expect more attacks from Russian troops for the New Year," Lysenko said.
The serviceman emphasized that both sides have not yet resorted to active actions along the entire front line.
"We still don't know much about the plans of Russian troops. However, it is definitely clear that their army is stuck in eastern Ukraine. In particular, their army cannot advance past Bakhmut. Therefore, generally speaking, today there are no major advances on the front line. We have forces for counterattacks, but the time has not yet come," he added.
- During the week, the Defense Forces of Ukraine advanced 2.5 km in the direction of Kreminna, and Russian troops are preparing a bridgehead for retreat near Luhansk.
