Russia losses 860 soldiers, aircraft, helicopter, and dozens of AFVs in one day of war in Ukraine — General Staff

On October 15, the Russian army tried to attack near Andriivka and Klishchiivka in the Bakhmut direction, but the Ukrainian Armed Forces managed to repel the attacks and eliminate another 860 Russian servicemen

The Ukrainian Armed Forces' General Staff shared their regular report, as below.

The total Russian combat losses from February 24, 2022, to October 16, 2023, amounted to:

  • personnel - about 288,630 (+860 per day) 
  • tanks - 4,965 (+17)
  • armored fighting vehicles - 9,385 (+23)
  • artillery systems - 6,910 (+44)
  • MLRS - 814 (+1)
  • air defense systems - 547
  • aircraft - 318 (+1) 
  • helicopters - 317 (+1) 
  • vehicles and tank trucks - 9,271 (+22)
  • ships/boats - 20
  • submarines - 1
  • UAV operational-tactical level - 5,280 (+11)
  • special equipment - 981 (+5)
  • cruise missiles - 1,531

Russian troops are trying to attack near Andriivka and Klishchiivka, Donetsk region

According to the General Staff, a total of about 70 combat clashes between Ukrainian and Russian troops took place over the past day.

In the area of the northern Ukrainian border with Belarus, the operational situation has not changed. 

In the northeastern border area, Russian forces maintain a grouping of troops covering the state border, conducting active sabotage activities in the border areas to prevent the deployment of Ukrainian troops to threatened areas, and increasing the density of minefields along the state border in the Belgorod region.

In Kupyansk direction, Ukrainian defenders repelled over 15 attacks near Synkivka and Ivanivka, Kharkiv region.

In Lyman direction, Russian troops did not launch any assault operations.

In Bakhmut direction, Ukrainian soldiers repelled 5 attacks near Klishchiivka and Andriivka, Donetsk region. At the same time, the Ukrainian Defense Forces continue assault operations south of Bakhmut, Donetsk region, inflicting losses in manpower and equipment on the Russian army, and consolidating their positions.

In Avdiivka direction, Russian troops, supported by aviation, conducted unsuccessful assault operations near Avdiivka and 4 more settlements in the Donetsk region. Ukrainian soldiers repelled over 15 attacks there.

In Marinka direction, Russian troops carried out 15 unsuccessful attacks near Marinka, Donetsk region.

In Shakhtarsk direction, Ukrainian defenders repelled attacks north of Pryiutne, Donetsk region.

In Zaporizhzhia direction, Russian troops tried 4 times to regain the lost position near Robotyne, Zaporizhzhia region, but were unsuccessful.

In Kherson direction, the Ukrainian Defence Forces conduct counter-battery operations, destroy Russian depots and successfully strike at the enemy's rear.

The Ukrainian Defence Forces are conducting an offensive operation in the Melitopol direction, inflicting losses in manpower and equipment on the occupying forces, consolidating their positions and exhausting Russian troops.

Russia launches missiles and Shahed drones at Ukraine at night

Last night, Russia launched another missile and air strike against Ukraine, using Kh-59 guided missiles, Iskander-M ballistic missiles and Shahed-136/131 attack UAVs. Information on the consequences of this terrorist attack is currently being clarified.

In total, Russia launched 10 missile and 87 air strikes, and 68 MLRS attacks at the positions of Ukrainian troops and populated areas. Unfortunately, Russian terrorist attacks have resulted in deaths and injuries among the civilian population. Private homes and other civilian infrastructure were destroyed and damaged.

Russian troops launched air strikes on 30 settlements across Chernihiv, Kharkiv, Luhansk, Donetsk, Kherson, and Mykolaiv regions.

Over 110 settlements in Chernihiv, Sumy, Kharkiv, Luhansk, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia and Kherson regions came under Russian artillery fire.

Ukrainian Defense Forces hit Russian personnel concentrations 17 times

Over the day, Ukrainian aviation carried out 15 strikes on concentrations of Russian personnel, weapons and military equipment, and another on an anti-aircraft missile system. Ukrainian defenders also destroyed a Russian Mi-8 helicopter.

Ukrainian missile troops hit 2 concentrations of Russian personnel, weapons and military equipment, 2 air defense systems and 5 artillery pieces.

  • Russian forces have tried to storm Avdiivka. The Ukrainian Armed Forces repulsed the main onslaught by enemy troops in the Avdiivka direction.
