Russia loses 660 soldiers, 8 tanks, and 9 armored vehicles in one day of Ukraine war — Ukraine's General Staff

The Ukrainian Armed Forces' General Staff shared their regular report, as below.

The total Russian combat losses from February 24, 2022, to October 29, 2023, amounted to:

• personnel - about 299,080 (+660 per day) 
• tanks - 5,175 (+8)
• armored fighting vehicles - 9,758 (+9)
• artillery systems - 7,188 (+8) 
• MLRS - 834
• air defense systems - 558
• aircraft - 320
• helicopters - 324
• vehicles and tank trucks - 9,532 (+8)

• UAV operational-tactical level - 5,399 (+0)

Russian troops keep trying to encircle Avdiivka, but Ukrainian Armed Forces hold the line

In total, according to the General Staff, about 70 combat clashes took place on the frontline over the past day.

In the area of the northern Ukrainian border with Belarus, the operational situation has not changed. 

In the northeastern border area, Russian forces maintain a grouping of troops covering the state border, conducting active sabotage activities in the border areas to prevent the deployment of Ukrainian troops to threatened areas, and increasing the density of minefields along the state border in the Belgorod region.

In Kupyansk direction, Russian troops conducted unsuccessful assault operations with the support of aviation near Synkivka and Ivanivka, Kharkiv region. The Ukrainian Armed Forces repelled 5 attacks there.

In Lyman direction, Russian troops did not conduct offensive (assault) actions, they continued to regroup their troops.

In Bakhmut direction, Ukrainian soldiers repelled attacks near Khromove, Donetsk region. Russian troops also tried to regain lost ground near Klishchiivka and Andriivka, where Ukrainian defenders repelled 10 attacks. In turn, the Ukrainian Defense Forces continue their assault operations south of Bakhmut in the Donetsk region, inflicting losses in manpower and equipment on Russian troops, and consolidating their positions.

In Avdiivka direction, Russian troops try to surround Avdiivka. Ukrainian soldiers are steadfastly holding the defense, inflicting numerous losses on Russian forces. Russia’s offensive actions near Avdiivka and 5 more settlements in the Donetsk region were unsuccessful; the Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled over 15 attacks.

In Marinka direction, Russian troops carried out unsuccessful attacks near Marinka and another settlement in the Donetsk region. Ukrainian soldiers repelled over 20 attacks.

In Shakhtarsk direction, Ukrainian defenders repelled all attacks near Zolota Nyva and Staromayorske, Donetsk region.

In Zaporizhzhia direction, Russian troops tried to regain the lost position west of Verbove, Zaporizhzhya region, but were unsuccessful.

In Kherson direction, the Ukrainian Defence Forces conduct counter-battery operations, destroy Russian depots and successfully strike at the enemy's rear.

The Ukrainian Defence Forces are conducting an offensive operation in the Melitopol direction, inflicting losses in manpower and equipment on the occupying forces, consolidating their positions and exhausting Russian troops.

In total, Russia launched 7 missile and 24 air strikes, and 30 MLRS attacks at the positions of Ukrainian troops and populated areas. Unfortunately, Russian terrorist attacks have resulted in deaths and injuries among the civilian population. Private homes and other civilian infrastructure were destroyed and damaged. 

In addition, last night Russian troops launched at Ukraine 5 Shahed-136/131 attack UAVs. Ukrainian air defense destroyed all drones.

Russian troops launched air strikes on 14 settlements across Kharkiv, Luhansk, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, and Kherson regions.

Over 110 settlements in Chernihiv, Sumy, Kharkiv, Luhansk, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia and Kherson regions came under Russian artillery fire.

Ukrainian aviation strikes Russia’s personnel concentrations 5 times

Over the past day, Ukrainian aviation carried out 5 strikes on concentrations of Russian personnel, weapons and military equipment. Ukrainian air defense forces also destroyed 3 Iskander-K ground-launched cruise missiles.

Ukrainian missile units hit a concentration of Russian personnel, weapons and military equipment , as well as artillery equipment.

• Earlier, Russian troops tried to regain their lost position near Andriivka in the Bakhmut direction and surround Avdiivka. Ukrainian defenders repelled a number of attacks and eliminated another 740 Russian soldiers.
