Russia loses 560 soldiers, 3 tanks and 5 air defense systems in one day in Ukraine - General Staff

Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, Russia has lost 253,850 soldiers in the war against Ukraine. Panic is growing in the Russian army, as desertion is on the rise

The Ukrainian Armed Forces' General Staff shared their regular report, as below.

The total Russian combat losses from February 24, 2022, to August 13, 2023, amounted to:

personnel - about 253,850 (+560 per day) 

tanks - 4,298 (+3)

armored fighting vehicles - 8,335 (+11) 

artillery systems - 5,072 (+19)

MLRS - 713

air defense systems - 477 (+5) 

aircraft - 315

helicopters - 313

vehicles and tank trucks - 7,543 (+20) 

ships/boats - 18

UAV operational-tactical level - 4,204 (+3)

special equipment - 760 (+1)

cruise missiles - 1,379

The number of desertions among the Russian military is significantly increasing

The report by the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces said that in the temporarily occupied settlement of Hornostaivka, Kherson region, military patrols and military personnel of the commandant's office of the Russian occupying forces are conducting house-to-house searches for deserters.

This measure has been taken in response to the growing number of desertions, alcohol, and drug consumption among the newly arrived Russian military personnel in the area. Soldiers are leaving their places of service and trying to hide in abandoned buildings.

Frontline situation: 39 combat clashes take place over a day

On the northern Ukrainian border with Belarus, the operational situation has not changed. 

On the northeastern border with Russia, Russian forces carried out an air strike near a settlement in the Kharkiv region. They also launched mortar and artillery attacks, targeting a total of over 20 settlements across Chernihiv, Sumy, and Kharkiv regions.

In the Kupyansk direction, Russian troops launched an unsuccessful offensive in the areas northeast of Synkivka, north of Kyslivka and southeast of Andriivka, Kharkiv region. They carried out air strikes near Kyslivka and Pershotravneve, and shelled 4 more settlements across the Kharkiv region.

In the Lyman direction, Russian forces carried out air strikes near 5 settlements and shelled over 10 settlements in the Luhansk and Donetsk regions with artillery.

In the Bakhmut direction, Ukrainian Defense Forces are holding back the Russian army near Klishchiivka and Bila Hora. Russian troops carried out an air strike near Blahodatne and shelled over 15 settlements in the Donetsk region with artillery.

In the Avdiivka direction, being under heavy fire from Russian aircraft and artillery, Ukrainian defenders successfully repelled attacks near Avdiivka. Russian troops carried out an air strike on Avdiivka and shelled over 10 settlements with artillery. 

In the Marinka direction, the Ukrainian Defense Forces hold back the Russian offensive near the town of Marinka. Russian troops launched air strikes near Krasnohorivka and shelled over 10 settlements in the Donetsk region with artillery.

In the Shakhtarsk direction, Russian troops tried to regain lost position in the Urozhaine area. They also shelled around 15 settlements.

In the Zaporizhzhia direction, over 25 settlements came under Russian artillery fire.

In the Kherson direction, Russian forces shelled over 25 settlements.

Meanwhile, the Ukrainian Defense Forces conduct offensive operations in the Melitopol and Berdyansk directions, consolidating their positions, inflicting artillery fire, and conducting counter-battery operations. They have had had partial success in the Robotyne area of Zaporizhzhia region.

Russia launches 43 MLRS attacks at Ukraine; the Ukrainian Defense Forces strike Russian personnel concentrations 10 times

Over the past day, Russian troops launched 7 missile and 47 air strikes, as well as 43 MLRS attacks at the positions of Ukrainian troops and populated areas. 

Unfortunately, Russian terrorist attacks have resulted in deaths and injuries among the civilian population. Residential buildings and other civilian infrastructure were destroyed.

Meanwhile, the aviation of the Ukrainian Defense Forces carried out 10 strikes on concentrations of Russian personnel, weapons and military equipment over the past day.

Ukrainian missile and artillery units destroyed 1 anti-aircraft missile system, 1 ammunition depot, 1 electronic warfare station and 3 artillery pieces at a firing position over the past day.

The Russian military conducts futile offensives on 3 frontlines, but the Ukrainian Defense Forces are successfully repelling their offensive on 2 more frontlines.
