Russia loses 340 soldiers, air defense system and 8 tanks in one day of war in Ukraine - General Staff
Ukrainian troops carried out assault operations in the Bakhmut direction. Meanwhile, Russian forces lost 340 soldiers, 8 tanks and 34 unmanned aerial vehicles over the day
The Ukrainian Armed Forces' General Staff shared their regular report, as below.
The total Russian combat losses from February 24, 2022, to September 29, 2023, amounted to:

General Staff report: Ukrainian Defense Forces carry out assault operations in the Bakhmut direction
The General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces reported the information.
In the area of the northern Ukrainian border with Belarus, the operational situation has not changed.
In the northeastern border area, Russian forces maintain a military presence in the border areas, conduct active sabotage activities to prevent the deployment of Ukrainian troops to threatened areas, and increase the density of minefields along the state border of Ukraine.
In Kupyansk and Bakhmut directions, Russian troops did not launch any assault operations. Russian troops shelled over 15 settlements across the Kharkiv region.
In Lyman direction, Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled attacks near Bilohorivka, Luhansk region.
In Avdiivka direction, Russian troops tried three times to regain the lost position near Avdiivka, Donetsk region, but failed. They also launched an unsuccessful offensive near Nevelske, Donetsk region.
In Marinka direction, Russian troops launched unsuccessful assaults near Marinka, Donetsk region, where they made 6 unsuccessful attempts to force Ukrainian units out of their positions over the past day. Also, Ukrainian defenders successfully repelled an attack near Novomykhailivka, Donetsk region.
In Shakhtarsk direction, Ukrainian soldiers successfully repelled an attack near Urozhayne, Donetsk region.
In Zaporizhzhia direction, Russian troops tried to regain the lost position near Chervone, Zaporizhzhia region, but were unsuccessful.
The Ukrainian army conducts offensives in the Melitopol direction, consolidating their positions and conducting counter-battery operations, assault operations in the Bakhmut direction, inflicting losses in manpower and equipment on the occupying forces, and exhausting Russian troops along the entire front line.
In Kherson direction, Ukrainian defense forces engage in counter-battery combat, destroy supply depots, and successfully strike at Russia’s rear.
Russian army launches 83 air strikes and 63 MLRS attacks at Ukraine
Over the past day, 21 combat clashes took place. In total, Russian forces carried out 83 air strikes and 63 MLRS attacks at the positions of Ukrainian troops and civilian objects. Unfortunately, the Russian terrorist attacks have resulted in deaths and injuries among the civilian population. Private homes and other civilian infrastructure have been damaged.
Russian air strikes targeted 17 settlements across diferent Ukrainian regions.
Over 140 settlements in Chernihiv, Sumy, Kharkiv, Luhansk, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia and Kherson regions came under Russian artillery fire.
Ukrainian troops destroy a Russian air defense system and 11 artillery vehicles
Over the past day, Ukrainian aviation launched 13 strikes on concentrations of Russian personnel, weapons and military equipment, 1 strike on an anti-aircraft missile system and 2 strikes on electronic warfare stations. Also, Ukrainian defenders destroyed 2 reconnaissance UAVs of operational and tactical level.
Ukrainian missile troops destroyed a Russian anti-aircraft missile system, 11 artillery pieces and an ammunition depot.

The Institute for the Study of War believes that Russian troops have recently reduced the intensity of offensive attacks on the Kupyansk-Svatove-Kreminna line, but increased the number of air strikes.
