Colonel Serhiy Cherevatyi, spokesman for the Eastern Grouping of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, shared the information on United News national telethon.
Cherevatyi said that on average Russian troops fire about 25,000 shells per day in the Lyman and Bakhmut directions, which means that Russians do not experience a shell famine.
"Wagner PMC head statements about ammunition are most likely due to the fact that he made too many promises to capture Bakhmut and is coming up with this nonsense about shell hunger, since there are no victories behind it, except for the loss of manpower. Moreover, neither the military leadership of the Russian Federation nor Russian convicts are willing to join the ranks of this organization, as they realize that it is a one-way ticket," he said.
In addition, Serhiy Cherevatyi noted that Russia has lost about 100,000 personnel in the Bakhmut direction over the past 9 months.
"But this is a rough estimate. I am sure that further verification will only increase this figure. This is natural, as the enemy uses so-called “meat” attacks of personnel as the main method of warfare," he added.
The founder of the Wagner PMC, Yevgeny Prigozhin, wrote a letter to the leadership of the Russian Defense Ministry, in which he announced his intention to withdraw his mercenaries from Bakhmut on May 10.
On May 6, Yevgeny Prigozhin said that his mercenaries would hand over their positions in Bakhmut to Ramzan Kadyrov's troops on May 10.
