The equipment and weapons that Russia is transferring to Belarus for the personnel training have been removed from long-term storage and require maintenance

The General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces shared the information in the morning report on January 9.

According to available information, a significant number of weapons and military equipment arriving from Russia to Belarus for the training of personnel has been removed from long-term storage and requires maintenance. Belarusian servicemen are involved in operating this equipment.

According to the General Staff, there is a tendency to deterioration of the moral and psychological state among Russian personnel. 

Among the servicemen of the 127th separate reconnaissance brigade, which is deployed in the temporarily occupied Sevastopol, the idea of ending the war under any conditions is gaining support.

The Armed Forces of Ukraine destroy 3 helicopters and strike 24 Russian personnel and equipment concentrations 

The aviation of the Ukrainian Defense Forces over the past day, January 8, launched 17 strikes on Russian personnel concentration and 3 strikes on the positions of anti-aircraft missile systems.

At the same time, Ukrainian defenders shot down 3 enemy helicopters (a Ka-52, a Mi-24, and a Mi-8), as well as 3 Orlan-10 reconnaissance UAVs.

Ukrainian missile and artillery men hit 7 concentrations of Russian manpower and military equipment, as well as its fuel and oil warehouse.

The units of the Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled Russian attacks near 2 settlements of the Luhansk region and 11 more of the Donetsk region.

Russia launches 7 missile and 31 airstrikes on Ukraine

Russian troops launched 7 missile, 31 airstrikes, and 73 MLRS attacks over the past day.

The threat of air and missile strikes on critical infrastructure facilities throughout Ukraine remains.

Russian forces are advancing in 3 directions

Russia is launching offensive actions in the Bakhmut, Avdiivka, and Lyman directions and is trying to improve its tactical situation in the Kupyansk direction.

In the Vuhledar, Zaporizhzhya, and Kherson directions Russian troops are defending the previously occupied borders and are fortifying their positions.

Russia does not stop shelling Ukrainian towns and villages from various types of weapons

On the border with Belarus, no signs of enemy offensive groups formation were detected.

On the border with Russia, 2 settlements of the Chernihiv region, 7 of the Sumy region, and 5 more of the Kharkiv region were subjected to Russian mortar and artillery attacks.

In the Kupyansk direction, 4 settlements of the Kharkiv region and 2 of the Luhansk region were shelled with tanks and cannon artillery.

In the Lyman direction, Russian troops shelled 6 settlements of the Luhansk region.

In the Bakhmut direction, 14 settlements of the Donetsk region suffered Russian shelling.

In the Avdiivka direction, 5 settlements of the Donetsk region came under fire.

In the Zaporizhzhia direction, Russian forces shelled 6 settlements of the Zaporizhzhia region and another settlement of the Dnipropetrovsk region.

In the Kherson  direction, Russian troops repeatedly shell the settlements along the right bank of the Dnipro River and launch MLRS attacks on Kherson.

  • Earlier, the AFU General Staff reported that Russian soldiers shot 6 people who wanted to surrender to Ukrainian captivity on January 5.
