Russia is ready for “goodwill gesture” in Kherson region - Reznikov
Ukraine's Minister of Defense Oleksii Reznikov suggests the Russian troops may retreat from the Kherson region describing the withdrawal as "goodwill gesture"
The defense minister shared his opinion at an online briefing on Friday, November 4.
Reznikov noted that Russia has a habit of "demonstrating gestures of goodwill" and cited the retreat from the north of the Kyiv region and Zmiinyi Island as an example.
“I think that they are potentially ready for another act of goodwill towards the right bank of the Dnipro, in the Kherson area and the region, but for this they will still have to lose part of their potential due to the Ukrainian Armed Forces' actions in response,” Reznikov said.
According to him, rainy weather also affects the fighting in the Kherson region. The Russian forces are using irrigation systems and canals, which are numerous in the Kherson region, as trenches.
Reznikov noted that the Ukrainian military is currently advancing on several fronts in Kherson, but Russia has strengthened its positions on both banks of the Dnipro River.
Ukraine suggests that Russia's actions may be an attempt to lure Ukraine's Armed Forces into a trap, creating the impression that the Russian military plans to leave the territories occupied by them.
On November 4, Russian state media reported that a 24-hour curfew was announced in Kherson, referring to the Russian-installed deputy governor of Ukraine's Kherson region with Kirill Stremousov.
However, the video address of the collaborator was later replaced with a new one, where there was no longer a word about the curfew, but some video montage instead.
