Russian missile hits police building in Kryvyi Rih, killing 1 person, wounding 73 more

On September 8, Russian troops attacked the police administrative building in Kryvyi Rih, Dnipropetrovsk region. As a result, a police officer was killed and 73 other people were injured

The National Police of Ukraine released a video of the first minutes after the missile strike in Kryvyi Rih. 

The Ministry of Internal Affairs reported that it had learned about another victim. 

"Updated information: 1 person died as a result of the attack, the number of injured increased to 73 people," the statement said.

The head of the Kryvyi Rih Defense Council, Oleksandr Vilkul, told Espreso TV channel that emergency rescue operations at the site of the hit were completed around 2:10 p.m. Three more injured people were rescued under the rubble. 

According to the updated information, the number of victims has increased to 72 people, 3 of whom are in serious condition, 32 are in moderate condition. 

More than 5,000 residents of the city's homes were damaged, including more than 80 houses and 1,967 apartments. An operational headquarters has been set up and the consequences of the Russian attack are being eliminated. 48 teams of utility workers are working. 

Vilkul added that according to air defense data, the police administrative building was hit by one Iskander-K missile.

Earlier, the Ministry of Internal Affairs informed that as of 3:00 p.m., the number of victims of the Russian attack had increased to 60 people.

The press service of the State Emergency Service (SES) provided updated data. They noted that the rescuers had completed the rubble removal.

"The city's municipal services continue to remove the construction debris," the SES reported.

Earlier, Ukraine’s Minister of Internal Affairs, Ihor Klymenko, reported this information.

According to him, search and rescue operations have been completed. 

As of 1:30 p.m., there are 55 victims: 1 dead and 54 injured. Among the injured are 9 police officers.

Tents, where specialists provide psychological assistance and mobile points for receiving applications from victims, have been set up near the site of the shelling.

Earlier, the head of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Military Administration Serhiy Lysak reported

"There are already 32 injured due to the missile attack in Kryvyi Rih. Most of them are in moderate or "satisfactory" condition. However, there are also "serious" ones," the statement reads.

It is noted that 3 administrative 7 residential buildings were also damaged as a result of the attack. 

However, the fire that broke out in the garages has been localized.

Previously, Minister of Internal Affairs Ihor Klymenko informed that "one of the police administrative buildings was destroyed". A policeman was killed as a result of a Russian strike. Three more were rescued from the rubble by the State Emergency Service.

It is noted that the victims are in serious condition. 

In addition, according to the minister, nearby residential buildings were also affected. Police are making door-to-door visits to check on the condition of the residents.

He later clarified that the number of wounded had increased to 25.

The consequences of the Russian attack were first reported by the head of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Military Administration, Serhiy Lysak.

"The missile hit the administrative building. Preliminary, 1 killed and 9 injured. 3 were taken out of the rubble," he said in a statement.

It is noted that the fire engulfed the garages that were located nearby.

Oleksandr Vilkul, the head of the military administration of Kryvyi Rih, reported the explosion.

"Kryvyi Rih. There was an explosion. We are not filming or posting anything on the Internet," he wrote.

It should be noted that the Air Force announced a missile threat at 8:57 a.m.

  • On Friday morning, September 8, Russian terrorists attacked civilian infrastructure in Zaporizhzhia. One person was wounded as a result of the attack.

  • Also on September 8, Russia attacked Sumy. Two people were injured in a missile strike and a house was destroyed.
