Russia gathers 1,000 tanks in Kupyansk direction, trying to break through defenses
Oleksiy Hetman, a retired major from the National Guard of Ukraine, mentioned that the enemy is attempting to move into the northern part of the country and take back the areas that the AFU had previously freed in the Kupyansk-Lyman direction
He stated this on Espreso TV.
“The enemy is trying to move northward in the Kupyansk-Lyman direction and regain the territories we previously liberated. Around 100,000 Russian soldiers are gathered in this area, and an additional 20,000 soldiers arrived from Belarus after training there. The Russians have accumulated roughly 2,000 pieces of heavy equipment, including nearly 1,000 tanks, about 300-350 anti-aircraft guns, and approximately 500-550 barrel artillery units,” he said.
According to him, the Armed Forces are currently advancing, and the enemy is counterattacking.
“The Russian tactics are not entirely new, but they weren't used frequently before. The enemy is employing tank strikes, attempting to break through our defense line by concentrating a strong group of around 1,000 tanks on a relatively small front section spanning tens of kilometers. This results in waves of tank attacks, as they try to breach our defenses. Consequently, intense battles are ongoing in that region. The enemy is also heavily using artillery fire, aviation, electronic warfare, and UAVs,” he added.
