Russian disinformation attempts to legitimize Kharkiv trolleybus depot attack as military target
Russian propaganda is spreading misinformation, claiming that the strike targeted a drone production facility and a UAV command post instead of the trolleybus depot in Kharkiv
The Center for Countering Disinformation reported that Russian propagandists are spreading false claims about the drone strike on the Kharkiv trolleybus depot on the night of May 30. They allege that the site housed a drone production facility and a drone control center.
In reality, Russian Shahed drones destroyed the trolleybus depot in Kharkiv, as confirmed by numerous photo and video evidence. Nearby apartment buildings were also damaged, but there were no military facilities on the depot’s grounds.
“With such lies, Russia is trying to convince the public that this attack was not aimed at civilians but at a military target. This is classic behavior for Russian propagandists, who use such tactics to justify their terrorist attacks on Ukrainian cities,” the statement said.
- In the early morning of Friday, May 30, the Russian occupying forces launched a massive drone attack on Kharkiv, striking a trolleybus depot where vehicles were being repaired and serviced.
