Russia falsely claims Ukrainian authorities ban evacuations from frontline cities
Russian propaganda is spreading disinformation alleging that Ukrainian authorities, including President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, are using civilians as 'human shields' and prohibiting evacuation from frontline cities
The Center for Countering Disinformation reported the information.
Russian propaganda is spreading a fake, claiming that Ukrainian authorities are banning evacuation from frontline cities, using the population as 'human shields.' As proof, the Russians are quoting President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's words taken out of context.
"This message is not true and is a manipulation of Russian propaganda. The fragment of the interview, which the enemy took out of context, was given by the head of the Ukrainian state back in December 2022 to the French TV channels TF1 and LCI. It was not about evacuation from frontline cities, but about a hypothetical complete evacuation of Kyiv," the Center for Countering Disinformation notes.
According to the center, Russian propaganda often resorts to such manipulations. Taking statements out of context is an effective tool for distorting reality and spreading disinformation.
In Ukraine, on June 10, a new hostile psychological operation was recorded, targeting relatives of prisoners of war. Unknown persons, posing as "representatives of Russian bodies responsible for the exchange," are trying to exert pressure and manipulate the trust of loved ones of Ukrainian defenders.
