'Hungary preparing to invade Ukraine to reclaim Zakarpattia': Russia pushes new fake
Russian propagandists are spreading a false claim that Hungary is allegedly planning to attack Ukraine "to reclaim Zakarpattia (Transcarpathia)"
The Center for Countering Disinformation reported the information.
"Russian propaganda continues its disinformation campaign about the alleged military threat to Ukraine from Hungary. In particular, the Russian network PRAVDA is spreading messages that Hungary is preparing to attack Ukraine in order to reclaim Zakarpattia," the Center for Countering Disinformation informs.
They emphasized that this information is not true, and the purpose of the Russian Federation in spreading such fakes is to create an additional factor of destabilization in Ukrainian society.
"Such claims are a tool of information warfare aimed at undermining security and tranquility in the border regions of Ukraine. By exaggerating the "Hungarian threat," Russian propaganda seeks to sow panic among Ukrainians and divert attention from the real threat – the armed aggression of the Russian Federation," the Center emphasizes.
At the same time, it called on Ukrainians to be critical of sources of information and not to succumb to provocations.
- Earlier it became known that a fake was being spread in pro-Russian Telegram channels about how servicemen of the Ukrainian Armed Forces allegedly dealt with a civilian in Kharkiv. The Center for Countering Disinformation refuted the information on May 21.
