AP reported the information.

Germany’s Federal Criminal Police Office said Tuesday that Russian intelligence services — directly or through intermediaries — are using online platforms to enlist people in low-level operations. These so-called “disposable agents” carry out crimes “for only a little money and often without knowing who is ordering the activities or what their purpose is.”

“They are ‘used’ and then ‘thrown away,’” the police said, launching a campaign titled “Don’t become a disposable agent.” Officials warned that sabotage carries a prison sentence of up to five years, while espionage can mean 10 years.

Authorities urged the public to contact Germany’s domestic intelligence agency if approached by strangers offering money for activities such as spreading pro-Russia slogans, scouting targets, or causing damage.

Several suspected cases are already under investigation, including arson, drone overflights, and suspicious surveillance, police said.
