Russia attacks Ukraine with Shahed drones wounding 2 people in Odesa region

On the evening of Tuesday, December 12, Russian terrorists launched Shahed drones from the southern direction. Two men were wounded in a drone strike in Odesa region. Air defense system shoots down one target in Khmelnytskyi district

The Air Force reported the launch of the Shahed drones at about 7:00 pm.

Russian terrorists have launched several groups of Shahed drones. A number of drones were sent towards Odesa region. Another part of the attack UAVs was sent in the northern direction.

At 8:45 p.m., the Air Force reported a group of Shahed drones moving toward Odesa. Four minutes later, Suspilne reported explosions in the city. "Our people are working," wrote Kiper, the head of the Regional Military Administration. At 9:18 pm, the alert in the region was over.

At about 10:30 p.m., the first deputy head of the Regional Military Administration Serhiy Tyurin reported that air defense was operating in Khmelnytskyi district. 

Later he noted that in the Khmelnytskyi district, the Ukrainian air defense forces shot down one Shahed attack UAV. There were no casualties, destruction or damage to infrastructure as a result of the attack.

The threat of attack drones lasted in Ukraine until 10:47 pm.

Odesa region

According to the preliminary data of the Southern Defense Forces, 2 people were wounded as a result of hostile actions and hospitalized. Their condition is satisfactory.There is also damage to civilian infrastructure in the region, and the fire has been extinguished.

Later, the head of the Odesa Regional State Administration, Oleh Kiper, clarified that two men were wounded and suffered numerous injuries, fractures and burns.

"One is in moderate condition and the other in serious condition and has been hospitalized. The injured are receiving all the necessary assistance," he wrote, adding that details about the damage to civilian infrastructure would be provided later.

Odesa Mayor Gennadiy Trukhanov informed that the attack was on the territory of a utility company with civilian vehicles.

"Another peaceful object is the territory of our utility company with civilian vehicles - trucks and cars," he said.

Ukrainian air defense destroyed all Shahed drones and ballistic missiles launched by Russia at night

The Ukrainian Air Force reported that on the night of Wednesday, December 13, Russia launched 10 kamikaze drones and the same number of ballistic missiles to attack Ukraine. All Russian targets were destroyed by air defense forces.

It is noted that at night, the invaders launched Shahed-type drones from the Balaklava area in the temporarily occupied Crimea.

A total of 10 attack UAVs were launched. All of them were destroyed by the Air Force in cooperation with the air defense units of the Ukrainian Defense Forces. Almost all Russian UAVs were shot down in Odesa region, in the area of responsibility of the Air Command South.

Also, exactly at 3:00 a.m. on December 13, the Russians launched a missile attack on the capital of Ukraine. All ten targets flying in the direction of Kyiv on a ballistic trajectory were shot down by an anti-aircraft missile unit of the Air Force.

The Ukrainian Air Force emphasized that the type of missiles can only be determined after the wreckage is examined by the relevant services.

  • On the night of Tuesday, December 12, Russia launched 15 attack UAVs at Ukraine, 9 of which were shot down by Ukrainian defenders. Two Russian Kh-59 missiles were also destroyed in the east the night before.
  • Later in the night, explosions were heard in Kyiv, followed by an air raid alert. The Russians attacked the capital with ballistic missiles, and fires broke out in several districts as a result of shrapnel falling in residential buildings. There are 51 known casualties.
