Russian forces attack Kyiv with ballistic missiles

"It is now known that the enemy could have struck Kyiv with 48N6 missiles from the S400 complex," he said.

Yermak added that the Russian forces targeted a critical infrastructure facility. He did not specify which one, but noted: "We know where they are hitting."

According to Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko, as of 07:30 a.m., 53 people were injured in the night attack by the Russian Federation. 20 of them, including two children, were hospitalized. 33 of the injured were treated on the spot. In particular, 6 children.

The head of the Kyiv City Military Administration, Serhiy Popko, noted that as a result of air defense efforts to shoot down enemy air targets, about a dozen cases of shrapnel falling in Kyiv were recorded.

There is no information on the death toll. As of 06:00 a.m., 51 injured people were recorded, including 6 children. The oldest victim is 80 years old, the youngest is 5 years old. Everyone was provided with medical aid.

Also, as reported by Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko, during the night attack on the capital, according to preliminary information, a rocket fell on the territory of one of the capital's hospitals. Windows in several buildings of the hospital were smashed. One person was injured.

The mayor said that cars were burning in the yard of a residential building in the Dniprovskyi district. Emergency services are on their way to the scene.

Later he said that the rocket fragments damaged the facade of the residential building. Residents are being evacuated. Rocket fragments also fell on a private residential building in the Dniprovskiy district. The fire is being extinguished.

As of 04:48 a.m., rescuers have evacuated 15 people, including four children.

Klitschko also claimed that a rocket fragment was burning in an open area in the Desnianskyi district. In the Darnytsia district, a one-story residential building is on fire.

Earlier, the mayor of the city reported 34 victims, 15 of whom were hospitalized, including 2 children, and 19 people were treated by medics on the spot. All the victims are residents of the Dniprovskyi district of the city. The injuries are caused by cuts from glass, as a result of windows smashed by the blast wave, said Serhiy Popko, head of the Kyiv City Military Administration.

According to him, windows were smashed in one of the children's hospitals in the Dniprovskyi district and the main entrance to the institution was damaged. There are currently no casualties.

Also, as a result of the rocket fragments falling on the roadway, the water supply network was damaged. Emergency crews are working on the spot to quickly repair the damage.

"After the air defense system shot down enemy targets over Kyiv, numerous debris fell on the left bank of the city. In particular, in the Dniprovskyi district, there is a preliminary fire in an apartment building. There is a fire on the balcony of the 7th floor. Also, 4 cars are on fire in the yard. State Emergency Service units are responding to calls," Popko posted on Telegram.

He also said that in the Desnianskyi district of the capital, there was a preliminary fire in the yard of an apartment building. A private house was also on fire.

Preliminary, as a result of the downing of enemy air targets, numerous pieces of debris were recorded in the Dniprovskyi and Desnianskyi districts, in particular, in open areas, on roadways and in residential buildings, Popko informed.

At 03:03 a.m., the Ukrainian Air Force announced a missile threat in the Kyiv and Chernihiv regions.

At 03:40 a.m., the Air Force announced a stand-down in the regions.

  • In the evening of December 12, Russian troops launched Shaheds in Ukraine. Two men were wounded in a drone strike in the Odesa region. In the Khmelnytskyi district, air defense shot down one target.
