Russia attacks Ukraine with cruise missiles, resulting in casualties: one person killed, 8 injured in Dnipropetrovsk region

The Air Force issued a statement: "Probable launches of cruise missiles from Tu-95MS strategic bombers. Expected air alert announcement in the southern and eastern regions at 06:30."
By 6:50 a.m., the first group of missiles reached the Kharkiv region, heading towards the Dnipropetrovsk region (Dnipro/Pavlohrad).
Dnipropetrovsk region
The head of the regional military administration, Serhiy Lysak, updated the information on the attack.
"According to the updated information, 8 people were injured in Pavlohrad as a result of a missile attack. These are men aged 32 to 66," the statement reads.
He noted that two of them will be treated at home, the rest in the hospital. Two of the wounded are still in serious condition. Psychological assistance was provided to 13 residents.
Serhiy Lysak, the head of the regional military administration, announced a rocket attack on the Pavlohrad district.
"Regrettably, one person has lost their life, and previously, four others were injured. All have been taken to the hospital and are undergoing surgery. Two individuals are in serious condition. We are currently verifying all information," he stated.
Later, Lysak reported destruction in Pavlohrad, Ternivka and Yuriivka community.
"An industrial enterprise was damaged. 16 private houses and 5 summer cottages were damaged. A church was hit. A car was also damaged," he wrote.
Kyiv and the region
The Kyiv military administration confirmed that all missiles heading towards Kyiv were intercepted by air defense forces before reaching the capital. They emphasized no reports of casualties or damage.
Ruslan Kravchenko, Head of Kyiv regional military administration, assured that critical and residential infrastructure in the region remained unharmed.
"Based on current information, there are no casualties. However, by 8:45 a.m., reports indicate damage to private homes in several communities. These residences have experienced broken windows and partial structural damage. Emergency services are actively responding," he reported.
Ukrainian air defense shoots down 14 of 19 missiles during morning missile attack
On the morning of December 8, during the Russian army's missile attack on Ukraine, Russia launched 19 Kh-101 and Kh-555 missiles, 14 of which were shot down by Ukrainian air defense.
The spokesman of the Ukrainian Air Force, Yuriy Ihnat, shared the information on the United News telethon.
"Preliminary, 19 missiles were launched, cruise missiles Kh-101 and Kh-555. We have a good result - 14 cruise missiles destroyed by air defense," he said.
According to him, the missiles were shot down over the Kyiv and Dnipropetrovsk regions. Initially, the missiles were aimed at Dnipro city. He added that some of the missiles hit infrastructure facilities in the Dnipropetrovsk region.
The Air Force confirmed the number of missiles shot down and provided details of the attack.
"A total of 7 aircraft from Russia’s Saratov region were involved, which preliminarily fired 19 air-launched cruise missiles. Some of the enemy missiles were aimed at infrastructure facilities in the Dnipropetrovsk region. Another group, having reached Dnipro city, changed the direction of movement towards Kyiv," the statement said.
