The General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces shared the information in its morning report on June 2.
Preliminary, last night Russian forces launched 15 cruise missiles (type to be specified) and 18 Iranian-made Shahed attack UAVs. Ukrainian defenders destroyed all of them in the air. The information is being clarified.
On June 1, Russia launched a total of 12 missile strikes. The attacks consisted of 10 Iskander ballistic and cruise missiles targeting Kyiv, which were successfully intercepted and destroyed by Ukrainian defenders. Additionally, 2 S-300 anti-aircraft guided missiles were launched at Kharkiv.
Russian troops also launched 46 air strikes and 107 MLRS attacks targeting both Ukrainian military positions and populated areas. These attacks resulted in the loss of civilian lives, including children, as well as numerous injuries. The attacks caused severe damage to civilian infrastructure such as a children's clinic, apartment buildings, private houses, and other facilities.
The threat of missile and air strikes across Ukraine remains high.
Russia intends to fully occupy Luhansk and Donetsk regions. Over the past day, the Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled 25 attacks.
On the northern border with Belarus, the operational situation remains stable, with no signs of offensive groups forming.
On the northeastern border with Russia, Russian troops maintain military presence in the areas bordering Ukraine.
They launched an air strike near a settlement in the Chernihiv region. Furthermore, Russian forces launched mortar and artillery attacks, targeting a total of 27 settlements across the Chernihiv, Sumy, and Kharkiv regions.
In the Kupyansk direction, Russian troops launched an unsuccessful assault west of Masiutivka in the Kharkiv region and near Kuzemivka in the Luhansk region over the past day.
They launched air strikes near 3 settlements in the Kharkiv region and another one in the Luhansk region. Eight settlements across Kharkiv and Luhansk regions came under artillery and mortar fire.
In the Lyman direction, Russian troops launched an unsuccessful assault near Bilohorivka in Luhansk region and Spirne in the Donetsk region over the past day.
They carried out air strikes near 4 settlements in Luhansk and Donetsk regions. Five settlements across the regions came under artillery fire.
In the Bakhmut direction, Russian troops launched air strikes near 3 settlements in the Donetsk region over the past day.
They also shelled 12 settlements in the Donetsk region with artillery.
In the Avdiivka direction, Russian troops did not initiate an assault; however, they launched air strikes near Avdiivka and Vodiane in the Donetsk region and shelled 4 settlements with artillery.
In the Marinka direction, Ukrainian defenders repelled all attacks near the town of Marinka. Russian troops launched an air strike on the town and shelled 4 settlements in the Donetsk region with artillery.
In the Shakhtarsk direction, Russian troops launched air strikes near Vuhledar and 2 other settlements in the Donetsk region. They shelled 3 settlements.
In Zaporizhzhia and Kherson directions, Russian troops are on the defensive .
They carried out air strikes near a settlement in the Zaporizhzhia region and 3 more in the Kherson region.
Russian forces shelled 23 settlements across Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, Dnipropetrovsk, and Kherson regions.
"The Russian occupiers force the passportization upon the population in the temporarily occupied territories of the Kherson region. Specifically, the Russian occupation administration has mandated that individuals obtain a Russian Federation citizenship passport by September 1, 2023. Moreover, it is required that residents submit a written refusal to hold a Ukrainian passport," the statement said.
Local energy companies have further announced that it will be mandatory to re-sign power supply contracts, which will be possible only if individuals have a Russian passport.
Ukrainian citizens who refuse to receive Russian documents are facing threats of power supply termination, deportation, property confiscation, and forced eviction from their homes.
Over the past day, the aviation of the Ukrainian defense forces launched 9 strikes on concentrations of Russian personnel and military equipment, as well as 4 strikes on anti-aircraft missile systems.
Over the past day, Ukrainian missile and artillery units struck 1 control center, 1 anti-aircraft missile system, 5 artillery units at firing positions, and 9 concentrations of Russian weapons and military equipment.
In addition, the Ukrainian Armed Forces destroyed 2 attack UAVs of the Lancet type and 1 reconnaissance UAV of the Orlan-10 type.
On the night of June 2, Russian troops attacked the rear regions of Ukraine. In Kyiv, air defense systems were intercepting missiles and drones.
