Russia attacks medical facility in Dnipro: 3 people killed, at least 23 injured

On the morning of May 26, the Russian army launched a missile attack on a medical facility in Dnipro. The attack killed 3 people and injured at least 30

Serhiy Lysak, head of the Dnipro Regional Military Administration, reported the information. 

"A missile attack on Dnipro. Ruscist bastards hit a medical facility. There are victims. Information is being clarified," he wrote.

The air raid alert was announced in the region after the explosion.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy reacted to the incident.

"Russian terrorists once again confirm their status of fighters against everything humane and honest. A rocket attack on a clinic in the city of Dnipro. As of now, one person was killed and 15 were wounded," he wrote.

According to him, the liquidation of the aftermath of the shelling and the rescue of the victims are underway. All necessary services are involved. 

The President also expressed his condolences to the family and friends of the deceased.

"We must defeat these inhumans irrevocably and as soon as possible. Because our time is our people. And our people are the most precious thing in Ukraine," Zelenskyy emphasized.

Later, Lysak clarified that 2 children were among the injured.

"The boys are 3 and 6 years old. Both are hospitalized. Doctors assess their condition as moderate," he wrote.

"Eleven adults are also hospitalized. Two of them are in serious condition," the official added.

He also noted that rescuers are extinguishing a fire that broke out at the strike site and are also looking for a person who may be under the rubble.

"Fifty rescuers and 17 vehicles are extinguishing the fire at the site of the missile strike in Dnipro. The fire spread over 1,000 square meters of the affected medical facility. The three-story building is partially destroyed," Lysak wrote.

"The fire in the neighboring building is still being extinguished. It has already been localized. The search for a person who may be under the rubble continues," the official added.

In his turn, Dmytro Lubinets, Ukraine’s ombudsman, reported 16 injured as a result of the strike on Dnipro.

"We know about 1 dead person and 16 injured. 4 people are missing," he wrote.

According to updated data from the head of the Regional Military Administration, Serhiy Lysak, the number of victims has reached 23. Twenty-one people are hospitalized, 3 of them in serious condition.

"A 69-year-old man died. He was just passing by when a Russian terrorist missile hit the city," the official wrote.

"As of this moment, rescuers have managed to localize the fire in the medical facility. Firefighting is ongoing," he added.

As of 1:51 pm, a second victim has been reported. His body was rescued from under the rubble.

"The body of the deceased man was rescued from under the rubble of the veterinary clinic building, which was also destroyed by the enemy," wrote Lysak.

This brings the death toll to 2.

At about 3:45 pm, Danylo Miro, a deputy of the Dnipro City Council, told Espreso that the death toll had increased. 

"One person who was under the rubble and could not be found has died. This is the third person with whom there was no contact. According to the emergency workers, there may still be people under the rubble," the MP said.

Later, the head of the regional military administration, Serhiy Lysak, clarified that 30 people were injured.

"There are already 30 victims, including two children. There is still no contact with three people who could be here," he wrote at 4:11 pm.
