The Ukrainian Air Defense Forces reported the information on July 6.

"Around 1 am, the enemy launched an attack from the Black Sea. Kalibr cruise missiles were launched from surface carriers and submarines. Several groups of missiles were spotted heading northward at first, using the terrain and the Dnipro riverbed, and then abruptly changing course to the west," the press service said.

The head of the Joint Coordination Press Center of the Southern Defense Forces of Ukraine, Natalia Humeniuk, said Russia has used at least 6 missile launchers with a volley of 36 Kalibr missiles that night. Three of them were surface, three more were underwater.

"I emphasize that 2,500 km is the distance that a Kalibr missile launched from the sea can cover, and it covers virtually the entire territory of Ukraine," she said.

The spokesperson emphasized that the consequences of the attack on Lviv could be both from an impact and from debris caused by the missiles being shot down.

"From our experience, we can say that such consequences can be caused by a direct hit or during combat operations, when missiles are shot down over the city, and the debris can also cause damage. That is why we always emphasize that even if you have great faith in our air defense, you must take cover, no matter what part of Ukraine you are in," said Humeniuk.

  • On the night of July 6, several explosions occurred in the Lviv region. The attack damaged an apartment building, a school, dormitories and an office in the regional center, killing 4 people and injuring at least 9. Read more about the night attack here.
