Odesa announces day of mourning for those killed in Russia's nighttime missile attack

June 15, 2023, has been declared a day of mourning in the city of Odesa. The corresponding order was signed by Mayor Gennadiy Trukhanov.

"Again, civilian infrastructure facilities: a business center, an educational institution, shops, a church, a catering facility. At night. Insidiously, as always," said the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Ihor Klymenko.

The rescue operation has been completed, the minister emphasized. Three people were killed and 13 were injured. The victims are being provided with both medical and psychological assistance.

Earlier, the Operational Command South wrote that the enemy had sent 4 Kalibr missiles to Odesa from a ship in the Black Sea. As a result of the air battle and the blast wave, a business center, an educational institution, a residential complex, catering establishments and shops in the city center were damaged.

In addition, the enemy hit a warehouse of a trade chain with a missile, causing damage of 1,000 square meters and a fire on an area of 400 square meters. 3 employees of the warehouse were killed and 7 were injured.

Then Serhii Bratchuk, the spokesperson for the Odesa Regional Military Administration, confirmed the information about the missile attack: "Please, no different versions. Please filter your messages. There was a missile attack, there was a threat. Everything else is from official sources of information." Bratchuk also hinted at the work of air defense.

Later, OC South wrote: "The enemy launched a missile attack on Odesa from the Black Sea. Air defense forces were working. Preliminary - 2 missiles were shot down".
