Russia accuses Ukraine of attacking naval base in Novorossiysk with drones
On the morning of Friday, August 4, residents of the Russian city of Novorossiysk have reported explosions. The Russian Defense Ministry says that Ukraine has allegedly attacked the naval base in the city with two naval drones
The Russian Defense Ministry reported the information.
Thus, the Russian ministry noted that the Ukrainian Armed Forces allegedly attacked the naval base in Novorossiysk at night with two unmanned marine boats. These drones allegedly detected and destroyed Russian ships guarding the outer raid of the base.
The governor of Russia’s Krasnodar Krai, Veniamin Kondratyev, said that there were no casualties or damage as a result of the alleged Ukrainian drone attack on Novorossiysk. It is also noted that the infrastructure of the Caspian Pipeline Consortium was not damaged, and oil shipments continue as usual. The consortium added that ship traffic in the port of Novorossiysk has been temporarily suspended.
Meanwhile, one of the Russian propagandists claims that a landing ship was hit. Allegedly, one of the compartments was flooded, which caused it to tip over. Currently, they are trying to tow the ship to the shore.
The ship in question is allegedly the Olenegorsky Gornyak vessel, which could have been repelling the drone attack today.
The first information about the explosions appeared around 01:00 am. At 05:10 am, according to Russian propaganda media, they were heard in different parts of Novorossiysk. For example, residents of the city reported that they "saw a bright flash over the sea and explosions in the area where the Caspian Pipeline Consortium is located."
