Road to Russian embassy painted in colors of Ukrainian flag in London

On Thursday, February 23, activists painted one of London's central streets leading to the Russian embassy in yellow and blue as a sign of protest

My London notes that the protest was organized by the Led by Donkeys group of activists in honor of the anniversary of Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

“Tomorrow is the first anniversary of Putin’s imperialist invasion of Ukraine. Contrary to what the Russian dictator and his apologists claim, Ukraine is an independent state and a people with every right to self-determination. The existence of a massive Ukrainian flag outside his embassy in London will serve to remind him of that,” the statement says.

The activists said that to create the flag, they spread 170 liters of yellow and blue paint along the road, after which cars spread the paint on the road.

The activists added that it is a high standard paint, non-toxic, solvent-free, environmentally friendly, and quick-drying, designed for street art.

London police have detained three men and one woman on suspicion of damaging the highway.
