Red Cross visits Ukrainian POWs, gives them warm clothes and books
Representatives of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) have visited Ukrainian prisoners of war (POWs) and handed them warm clothes, blankets, hygiene products, and books
The press service of the ICRC reported this.
"These visits are an important step forward in preserving humanity amidst the brutality of the international armed conflict," said ICRC President Mirjana Spoljaric.
According to her, representatives of the Red Cross checked how the Russians treat Ukrainian prisoners of war. The ICRC also gave them warm clothes, blankets, hygiene products, and books.
"To the families: I want you to know that your loved ones are our top priority, and we will not rest until we see all prisoners of war," President Spoljaric said.
The Committee reminded that all prisoners of war have the right to regular meetings with ICRC delegates in accordance with the Third Geneva Convention.
"While the recent visits are important progress, the ICRC must be granted unimpeded access to see all prisoners of war repeatedly and in private, wherever they are held," the press service emphasized.
