Red Cross attempts to access prison bombed by Russia in Olenivka - ICRC
Representatives of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) want to enter the prison in Olenivka, where Ukrainian prisoners of war were killed in a Russian bombing raid on the facility, classed as a terrorist attack
This was reported to RBC-Ukraine by ICRC public relations and media specialist Oleksandr Vlasenko.
"We know about this tragedy in the colony in Olenivka. We saw the photos. But our representatives were not there at that time, and there were no independent representatives from whom we could get information... We asked the relevant structures in Donetsk so we could get there as quickly as possible", Oleksandr Vlasenko said.
He also noted that representatives of the Red Cross want to get to Olenivka, first of all, to help the wounded Ukrainian citizens who are being held there, as well as to evacuate them, if possible.
"And, of course, in order to get the maximum amount of information that we will pass on to the relatives of the prisoners", Vlasenko said.
