The founder of titanium company Velta said this in an interview with Espreso.
“I was once very interested in Ukraine’s lithium deposits. I won’t name them now, but two of them were indeed attractive—not because of their lithium content, but because they also held rare earth metals,” Brodskyi said.
According to him, extracting lithium alone from these deposits would not be profitable.
“Ukrainian lithium is low-quality and unprofitable to mine. Ukrainian lithium is a myth, once launched in the media and spread worldwide. But the rare earth metals contained in those same deposits are a completely different matter,” Brodskyi explained.
- In August, the Cabinet of Ministers announced a competition for a production sharing agreement at the Dobra site in the Kirovohrad region, which contains significant lithium reserves. According to the State Geology Service, the site also holds tantalum, niobium, rubidium, beryllium, tin, cesium, tungsten, and gold ores.
