Ukrainian Minister of Culture and Strategic Communications Mykola Tochytskyi, during the International Conference on the Reconstruction of Ukraine in Rome, announced that Italy will help restore six cultural landmarks in the center of Odesa.

“This is a clear signal from the Italian government regarding the reconstruction of six important cultural heritage sites in Odesa. An agreement has been signed for a significant amount, which will allow for the restoration of landmarks located right in the city center,” Tochytskyi stated.

According to the head of the Ministry of Culture and Strategic Communications, this is further confirmation that Ukraine is not alone in its fight to preserve its culture and identity.

“The circle of partners will continue to grow,” the minister added.

The total aid package amounts to 45 million euros, which will be distributed among various cultural heritage sites.

The head of the Odesa Regional State Administration, Oleh Kiper, reported that within the project, two sites of local significance and four of regional significance would be restored. Specifically, this includes the Odesa Regional Philharmonic, the Odesa Art Museum (Potocki Palace), the Museum of Western and Eastern Art (Abaza Palace), and the Odesa Literary Museum. In addition, the restoration of administrative buildings that are architectural monuments is also planned.

The minister added that the list of sites needing restoration was proposed by the Ukrainian side, and Italy made its selections from this list.
