Putin risks losing initiative with Istanbul visit
Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov made the statement, according to Interfax.
According to him, Putin's ceasefire initiative remains in effect, but “any attempts by the Ukrainian side to strike Russian positions or facilities will be met with an appropriate response.”
“President Putin’s initiative for a temporary ceasefire during the holidays is still in place, and the supreme commander-in-chief has issued the necessary instructions,” Peskov said.
“But I want to remind you of our position: fire will cease, but if there is no reciprocity from the Kyiv regime and attempts to strike our positions or facilities continue, an appropriate response will follow immediately,” he added.
