Putin's ex-wife urgently sells real estate in Spain amid EU sanctions - Media

The former wife of the Russian President Lyudmila Ocheretnaya and her new husband Artur Ocheretny are selling their property in Spain over fears of being hit by EU sanctions.

Spanish edition El Mundo reports.

The Ocheretny family is urgently selling two apartments in the Lomas del Rey residential complex located in the resort town of Marbella in southern Spain. The property is worth 2.2 million euros.

According to the publication, the reason for the sale is the fear of being sanctioned by the European Union. Putin's ex-wife is already on the UK sanctions list.

Lyudmila divorced Putin in 2013, but there are suspicions that the Russian president continues to finance his ex-wife.

The properties in Spain were purchased by Ocheretny in 2011 and 2014, shortly before he married Lyudmyla, and were registered in his name. It consists of two apartments of 229 and 405 square meters. To pay for the purchase, he took out a mortgage loan from a Spanish bank.

The Spanish media note that the purchase of Spanish real estate worth more than 500,000 euros entitles foreigners to obtain a residence permit in Spain, first temporarily for a year and then permanently.
