Putin orders to create museum chain dedicated to "events and feats" of war in Ukraine
Putin has instructed the authorities to create a network of museums in Russia dedicated to the war of aggression against Ukraine and to introduce the study of its history
This is stated in the list of Putin's orders published on the Kremlin's website.
On April 26, the Kremlin published a list of Putin's orders, but noted that they were approved following a meeting with representatives of public patriotic and youth organizations that was held on February 2, 2023.
Some of the Russian president's orders relate to the Second World War, which is called the Great Patriotic War in Russia, and some to the current war against Ukraine, which Putin calls the "special military operation".
Thus, "to ensure the creation of museums (regional, municipal, on the basis of educational organizations) dedicated to the events of the special military operation and the feats of its participants" was instructed to the Ministry of Culture, the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Defense of Russia, together with the executive authorities of the constituent entities of the Russian Federation and with the participation of the Russian Historical Society and public associations engaged in research.
"To consider the transfer to museums of artifacts suitable for museification and exhibition related to the special military operation" was instructed to the Ministry of Defense and the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation with the participation of public associations engaged in search work.
The Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Defense, together with the Russian Academy of Sciences, were instructed to consider "the issue of organizing the study of the history of the special military operation" and submit relevant proposals.
The report on the first two issues is to be submitted by December 30, 2023, and the report on the latter by September 30 this year.
