Putin is desperately waiting for Ukraine’s counteroffensive - former Lithuanian Foreign Minister on Russia's nuclear blackmail

Former Lithuanian Foreign Minister Linas Linkevičius believes that Putin has resorted to nuclear intimidation out of desperation over the expectation of a Ukrainian counteroffensive

The diplomat expressed this opinion on Twitter.

"Putin is desperately waiting for Ukraine’s counteroffensive. The renewed saber nuclear rattling only proves that nothing else is left in the arsenal of intimidation," the former Lithuanian Foreign Minister said.

Linkevičius added that Putin will bluff in the hope that someone will get scared. "But no one is afraid anymore," the diplomat stated.

• This week, the UN Security Council will discuss Russia's threats to deploy nuclear weapons in Belarus.

• The day before, Putin said that by July 1, Belarus would complete a storage facility for Russian tactical nuclear weapons and Russia will deploy them in the neighboring country.
