Put pressure on Russia to stop the war: Ukrainian PM urges closed ports for Russian ships, no trade with aggressor state
Ukraine's Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal has called on Asian nations to stop trading with Russia and close their ports to its ships to stop the war in Ukraine
Shmyhal made the statement during a video address to the Asian Leadership conference participants in Korea, which was detailed on the Government website.
"We can stop this war if we all increase the pressure on the aggressor together. The best tool of pressure is sanctions. We need a full embargo on trade with Russia, closure of ports for Russian ships, complete withdrawal of international companies from the Russian market," Shmyhal said.
He emphasized that business with Russia is becoming toxic because it provides a resource for financing the war.
"Moscow has already been forced to at least double the spending on its army, and therefore it is necessary to cut off the money flow that the aggressor receives from trade and taxes of foreign companies. This is a task for all democratic countries in the world, and we hope that the Republic of Korea will support this position," noted Denys Shmyhal
