Prosecutor General's Office publishes statistics on war crimes in Bucha

Every day in Bucha, Kyiv region, the Russian army committed more than 270 crimes. More than 1400 civilians were killed, 37 children were among the dead, and 52 more were injured

This was reported by the Office of the Prosecutor General on Telegram.

During the Russian occupation, more than 9,000 war crimes were committed in the Bucha district.

It is reported that the Russian soldiers committed more than 270 crimes every day. Over 1400 civilians were killed, including 37 children. Another 52 children were injured.

According to Prosecutor General Andriy Kostin, over the year, prosecutors have notified almost a hundred Russian military personnel of suspicion. Indictments against 35 people have been sent to court, including a colonel general, commander of the Central Military District of the Russian Federation, who directly led the seizure of Sumy, Chernihiv and Kyiv regions.

In addition, the agency noted that two Russian servicemen were sentenced to 12 years in prison for illegal imprisonment of civilians and looting. 

The official noted that "all these crimes are not an accident, but part of a planned strategy of the Russian Federation aimed at destroying Ukraine as a state and Ukrainians as a nation."

"We will not stop until all organizers and perpetrators of war crimes are sentenced. Today, we are holding another round of discussions with international partners on the development of a network of comprehensive accountability for international crimes," the Prosecutor General emphasized.

  • On March 31, 2022, Ukrainian forces liberated Bucha, Kyiv region, from Russian occupation. The town had been under the control of the Russian army for 33 days.

  • On March 31, on the anniversary of the liberation of towns in Kyiv region from Russian occupation, Ukrposhta issued a stamp "We will not forget! We will not forgive! Bucha. Irpin. Hostomel".
